Do You Really Need A Studio to Create Art?

The answer is simply, no. There are many artists who think that they can not create unless they have a studio. Well, that’s not always true. You don’t have to have the big space with all the supplies arranged nice and neat on shelves and in crates to create art. You can be in the bathroom, laundry room or kitchen if you really want to make art. I hear so many artists say that they can’t paint because they are in a crammed apartment or don’t want to mess up momma’s dinning set. I have painted some of my best work on the floor in my one bedroom apartment. I have even painted in the kitchen and in the laundry room when we had to change my studio into a bedroom after my daughter was born. If you want to create or even sell art, you are going to have to suck-it-up and create where ever you can. You are going to have to change your mindset. You may need to develop that “if there is a will there is a way” attitude because if you don’t, you won’t create anything, let alone begin to make sales because you don’t have any work. So forget about what you see in art magazines and art books with all the nice images of artists with nice studios that day will come. Just start today to begin your journey as an artist.
