How to Hang Art in Your Tent at an Art Festival

0102165_hanging-art_s4x3_lgThere are three main things you need to know when hanging your artwork inside your tent when displaying at an art festival. One is that you need to have a good amount of space between each piece. That way each work of art has its own space and the viewer can really appreciate that piece without the distractions of other artwork nearby. It also looks good when the artwork is not cluttered together. Artwork needs space to breathe so the viewer can really grasp what the artist is trying to say in the work. Now you don’t want too much space between the work because it would look as though you don’t have much to display and the pieces will feel lonely. Try to have enough space between them to prevent clutter but not cause the artwork to look lonely.

The second tip is that the artwork needs to be at eye level. Don’t hang the work so high that the viewer can’t really see the work or too low where they would have to bend down to look at your work. You may say I don’t have enough tent space to be able to display all my work if I keep them all at eye. Well, what you want to do is keep your pieces at eye level as much as possible but not too far away from the customer’s line of sight. Try to keep some parameters. You can also keep some of the work boxed up and when something sells you can replace the piece that sold.

The third thing you want to do when hanging your artwork at an art festival is, make sure your wires are attracted to your work. You can use curtain hooks to hang your work with. There is nothing worst than your painting falling because the wire was not secured properly or your sculpture breaking simply because you didn’t put it on strong stable shelves. You never know how the wind may blow at these shows so you want to have everything tightened and hung properly. Remember to try and always prepare for the worst.
